Field & Fawcett, the award winning wine merchants and delicatessen in York,  announced Wednesday 10 August as the opening date of their new venture, The Café at Field & Fawcett.  Located at Grimston Bar, on the Hull Road and close to the A64 from Leeds to Scarborough, The Café at Field & Fawcett offers home cooked, classic food from early mornings through to late afternoons. Spearheaded and managed by Cathryn Fawcett, who owns Field & Fawcett with husband Peter, The Café is located within the same farm buildings from which the wine merchants has been successfully operating for 10 years.

The Café seats 30, with a menu celebrating the best of the British classics and twists on traditional favourites, with breakfasts as one of their core dishes.  Opening Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm, Saturday 9am to 4pm, Cathryn is looking to pick up the early trade from business travellers, commuters to York and tourists from the A64, as well as daily trade from residents.  An award winning cook in her own right, Cathryn is keen that customers enjoy a range of food in a relaxed atmosphere and the kind of food that will set them up for the day or provide a perfect pit stop for a family on route to the coast.  

Says Cathryn: “We’ve really enjoyed the process of devising menus that reflect our passion for quality and seasonality.  As a family business we have worked hard to ensure that The Café is a light, bright destination serving the best from breakfast time through to tea time, served by an experienced team.  We’ve worked alongside our new chef Lee Milnes to create a menu that includes ingredients from the best suppliers, celebrating food that is home cooked and simple, whether it’s a full English breakfast or a slice of one of our stupendous homemade cakes.  The Café will be licensed and will also host our wine tasting evenings.  In the meantime, we look forward to welcoming new customers to The Café and hope our regular visitors will also find the time to relax and enjoy our new venture.”

The Café at Field & Fawcett is offering 25% off food in the Café with a minimum purchase of £5 until the end of August 2016.
